- There is no draftiness that is common with forced-air systems.
- Radiant heating systems are flexible and can be routed to other systems like the electrical and data systems.

- Liquid-based radiant heating systems use very little energy.
The disadvantages are:
- Sudden heating is not possible; if you want a system that can respond immediately to changes outside, radiant heat will not work.
- Radiant in-floor heating systems cannot be used for cooling; it will require the installation of an additional split system for cooling.
- The radiant heat tubes are prone to damage; you have to make sure that nails, staples and other fasteners do not damage the tubes if they are used to anchor anything on the floor.
The source of the heat can be from a wide variety of sources and these include, boilers fired by gas, oil and wood, solar water heaters or a combination of them all.
